Cybersecurity and Design: Managing New Risks and Requirements

Manufacturing has been traditionally perceived as having lower cybersecurity risk than retail or financial businesses with large volumes of consumer information on hand. But the cybersecurity landscape is evolving—hackers are setting their sights on new industries and areas of weakness, while more robust standards and new federal programs are raising awareness among clients and prospective customers. Design engineers in medical, military and other industries need to take more interest in the security of their vendors and suppliers and possibly change how they work with their manufacturing partners.
